Scholarship Hassle?

For most of us wanting tertiary education we have to go through the process of applying for an academic related loan to fund us through our 3+ years of book bashing and beer drinking.
For some of our more prestigious and high-achieving compatriots they luck out and are awarded scholarships and other monetary rewards to make this process a lot less dire on the pocket (which they should rightly so be awarded as they usually work their ass off for it).
However for us more worldly folk we may find it harder to be presented with such financial assistance. I myself tried for a few international and domestic scholarships for athletics and unfortunately did not make the cut. This shortcoming, for the most part, did not come down to a lack in my physical prowess but instead down to the erratic ways in which I was contacting Universities and Colleges.
If you are currently in the same boat I was in 5 years ago please don't make the same mistakes as me and give yourself a fighting chance in getting accepted.
